During the years 1903-1914, Ramanujan worked in almost complete isolation in India. During this time, he recorded most of his mathematical discoveries without proofs in notebooks. Although many of his results were already found in the literature, most were not. Almost a decade after Ramanujan's death in 1920, G.N. Watson and B.M. Wilson began to edit Ramanujan's notebooks, but they never completed the task. A photostat edition, with no editing, was published by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Bombay in 1957. This book is the fourth of five volumes devoted to the editing of Ramanujan's notebooks. Parts I, II, and III, published in 1985, 1989, and 1991, contain accounts of Chapters 1-21 in Ramanujan's second notebook as well as a description of his quarterly reports. This is the first of two volumes devoted to proving the results found in the unorganized portions of the second notebook and in the third notebook. The author also proves those results in the first notebook that are not found in the second or third notebooks. For those results that are known, references in the literature are provided. Otherwise, complete proofs are given. Over 1/2 of the results in the notebooks are new. Many of them are so startling and different that there are no results akin to them in the literature.

SYNOPSIS

This is a story of four friends Hari, Shekhar, Ashim and Sanjay. They were school buddies. Out of them, only Ashim is an earning person. He is a doctor. Earlier, their life is full of boredom, not knowing what do in future. They started a Bangla Band, where Hari was the lead singer, but they were heavily thrashed by the public in a stage show in North Bengal. They decided not to sing any more. Then they started a travelling agency, named 'Gharoa Travels'. On their first trip, they start the journey with only 9 passengers. On the way to the hills, a girl called Ria joins them as passenger. The film deals with their journey via Kalimpong. The ten passengers are of ten different types and also the four tour operators are of four different natures. As the journey progresses, their characters were revealed one by one. The film has a style of flash-forwarding the story juxtaposed with the present. So, we are able to know what happens after their first tour.

REVIEW

This is one of Rituparno Ghosh's most complex films. The story of the film is Radha's story of self-discovery as she is forced to re-examine her own life and has to re-evaluate each incident. The cinematographic technique is one that seeems to have become very popular in recent times - a series of flashbacks, each adding bits and pieces to the total picture as it unfolds like a jigsaw puzzle. Yet Rituparno weaves the past and present brilliantly as he brings out Radha's own contradictions and her insecurities - about Neel not taking her into confidence in major decisions, about Neel's muse Kajori Ray and so many more. Then as she starts comprehending that Neel's world revolved round her and her alone, she discovers that she too cared for him much ore that she had admitted to herself. It is beautifully brought out and except for a few scenes, the screenplay is taut enough to keep you rivetted to the screen.

Acting by the main protagonists is outstanding. Bipasha will probably never get a role again that demands so much from her and she performs brilliantly. But if I were to select one actor in the film, it would have to be Sohag Sen as Nondo'r Ma/Priyobala. The restraint and realism that she brings to her role makes it so believable. She is the faithful retainer cim confidante to life. And despite a subservient role she makes her presence felt whenever she is on screen.

Perhaps the best part of the film is its editing. Arghyakamal Mitra must have had a harrowing time getting Rituparno's concepts across to the audience and does so beautifully. Despite the jump cuts and flashbacks which sometimes makes you wonder id you are in the past or present, marvelous editing keeps the narrative going and our attention intact. Music is excellent too. Cinematography fits into the general ovrall excellence of the film, but there is no scene that really capyures your imagination.

Perhaps the only part of the film that I did not like were the scenes in which Kajori Ray (Paoli Dam) is brought tothe screen. They added very little to the main theme and the fantasy sequences did not have a major impact on the film's structure or its narrative. If the mystery surrounding Kajori did not exist, very little would have been lost.

Overall, a brilliantly crafted film but not one for the hoi polloi.

Few days back I was reading some random blog... The person wrote a topic on "God...who the hell is he ???". Actually I personally felt the person is awfully puzzled over his thoughts.
Starting the thoughts with

'GoD!! who the hell is he??'

, he ends up saying

" I believe in one God, that is inside me"

Actually I personally feel sorry for this person. He is a perfect example of some totally perplexed living being stuck in the middle of nowhere. Reading his other posts in the blog, I was really confirmed that the person is not at all happy with his current life. Maybe he intends to get more out of his life by being such a sorrowful creature.

Well maybe these thoughts have come to me because I am a GOd fearing person, but thinking it reasonably, even if I was one of those atheist, I wont say 'I believe in one God, that is inside me' at the end of writing some big lecture on atheism.

Then just yesterday I stumbled upon some atheist guy who opened his own library in an internet community forum. Well, this person I felt like was an actual atheist.

Well I was in such sort of a problem a few minutes back.. Needed to share a running code but the person with whom I needed to share didn't have a compiler..

Welcome to codepad . Great website. Works great for simple programs or rather at least you can be sure there aren't any errors in the code.

What it is

codepad.org is an online compiler/interpreter, and a simple collaboration tool. It's a pastebin that executes code for you. You paste your code, and codepad runs it and gives you a short URL you can use to share it. Paste the URL into chat or email to get help or to show someone how to do something. Or just try things out when you don't have an interpreter handy. It works well on many phones.

How it works

Code execution is handled by a supervisor based on geordi. The strategy is to run everything under ptrace, with many system calls disallowed or ignored. Compilers and final executables are both executed in a chroot jail, with strict resource limits. The supervisor is written in Haskell.

Synopsis

The third in Brunner's Zarathustra trilogy reunites us with the heroes of Carrig, Madeleina Dos Santos and Gus Langenschmidt. A horrible deception is being practised on the inhabitants of an isolated planet.

This is a good adventure story, but somehow Brunner's parallel plot mechanism didn't carry as much here as in some novels. Perhaps some of the storylines do not develop enough before they are brought together.

Security researchers found that poor shielding on some keyboard cables means useful data can be leaked about each character typed.

By analysing the information leaking onto power circuits, the researchers could see what a target was typing.

The attack has been demonstrated to work at a distance of up to 15m, but refinement may mean it could work over much longer distances.

The research focused on the cables used to connect PS/2 keyboards to desktop PCs.

New Rules For The Office - Effective Immediately!

SICK DAYS:

We will no longer accept a doctor statement as proof of sickness. If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.

SURGERY:

Operations are now banned. As long as you are an employee here, you need all your organs. You should not consider removing anything. We hired you intact. To have something removed constitutes a breach of employment.

DRESS CODE:

It is advised that you come to work dressed according to your salary, if we see you wearing $350 Prada sneakers & carrying a $600 Gucci bag, we assume you are doing well financially and therefore you do not need a raise.

PERSONAL DAYS:

Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called Saturday & Sunday.

VACATION DAYS:

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE:

LUNCH BREAK:

Skinny people get an hour for lunch as they need to eat more so that they can look healthy, normal size people get 30 minutes for lunch to get a balance meal to maintain their average figure. Fat people get 5 minutes for lunch because that's all the time needed to drink a Slim Fast & take a diet pill.

DOUBLE DECKER BUS RIDE
Santa Singh and Banta Singh landed up in Bombay. They managed to get into a

There was this case in the hospital's Intensive care ward where patients always died in the same bed and on Sunday morning at 11a.m., regardless of their medical condition.

The autobiographical narrative tells the story of the life of Obama up to his entry in Harvard Law School. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Obama, Sr. of Kenya, and Ann Dunham of Wichita, Kansas, both students at that time at the East-West Center of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Obama's parents separated when he was two years old and divorced in 1964. Obama formed an image of his absent father from stories told by his mother and her parents. Will hard disks become extinct??

Why do we need hard disks??? To store data obviously. Bad question.

Now what if we can store all our data over internet with backup service. In short, what if we can store data indefinitely over data servers with features like unlimited storage and sharing for FREE..

Will we need hard disks any more?? Yes maybe, for downloading stuffs from internet so that we can upload them to the data servers.

Oops! I forgot to mention, some online storage and backup services have the function of transferring files remotely. In layman terms, data stored in server on one storage service provider, can be transferred to the server of another storage service provider, just by entering the web address of the file.

Recently when I took blogging somewhat seriously... I faced problems with uploading some music for putting it on the blog. The next problem I faced was when I needed to share some files with friends (you too..) . So summing up, my problems were

1. Upload music to some storage site which also allows streaming them online.
2. Get hold of a reasonable file storage website, which can store the data for maximum period of time.

So my search began...It was a long one. Cutting it short, I came across some reasonably good sites. Though my search yielded some hundreds of sites, half of them were paid ones or very few features were present for free users.
My search came to stop at some of these websites which I am currently using and facing so to say no problems... Don't know if future holds any surprise for me that might change my view on these, but as for now I have ended my search.

Tried twice to upload, left the moment it popped up the third time.

I was trying to find some gadgets for my blog recently, but nothing hit me hard. Then I remembered some sites having a gadget "Google bot crawled the site on". Now I went ahead and googled for the gadget. But then, it struck me when I read in some websites that google bots crawl the whole of web. So in other words it will take weeks for a bot to return to the blog for the second time. OMG! Just then my lady luck understanding my frustration gave a quick reply...

Everyone loves to get their web pages indexed by Google as soon as they write them. If you can guide the GoogleBot to crawl your site easily it will index your pages much faster than your expectations.

Submit a Sitemap file to Google Webmaster Tools

At the center of the page was the link "Add a site.."
Make sure you have a search engine friendly site..in short keep it simple.

Now add your blog link as for mine it is http://nothingsupheregetdowninthesite.blogspot.com/
Next you get to a page where google asks you to add a 'meta tag' or a 'HTML file' to your website.

As for me, I would suggest adding 'meta tag'. It is a lot better than creating an empty HTML link. (Now that was just an opinion, do whatever you feel best.)

Ok. That being said, follow the help which google gives just below the Meta tag. And as for HTML file, just create a blog with the topic name as the HTML code given by google.
Verify the link and there you go...you just helped google and yourself.

Hmm, at last the long awaited days of Durga puja has come. ঐ কথায়ে আছে না, bengaliদের বারো মাসে তেরো পারবোন । (কেনো? why?)

This year might not be that special for me but who cares... everybody is happy. Shopping has already started in bengal. Don't know about other countries but protima কুমোর পারা থেকে পানদেলের দিকে রোঔনা দিয়ে দিয়েচে ।. জোদিও মায়ের মুখটা দেখা গেলো না (তেরপোল দিয়ে ঢাকা রেখেছিলো), but anyways মুখটা এখোনো complete হৈনি বললেই চোলে. চোকটাই জখন নেই, তোখোন মুখ আর কি দেখবো ।

Mahalaya

On this holy day of "মহালায়া" ("Mahalaya") all of Bengal wakes up to the early morning radio broadcast of ‘Mahishasur Mardini’ (Hymns and sloka-snippets by Birendrakrishna Bhadra) the splendid incarnation of the arrival of Goddess Durga, along with her own illustrious family and their respective Vahanas.

It signifies the end of "Pitripakshya" and the beginning of the Holy " Debipakshya", a time for Brahmins to pay tribute to the deceased souls of their forefathers with the divine hymns chanted by the priests and the phenomenal bathing ceremony on the celestial Ghats of Mother Ganges. Over the years "Mahalaya" nestled in to most sentimental part of a Bengali heart.

এই গেলো মহালায়া নিয়ে । english-এ লিখলাম জাতে সোবাই বোঝে । এই পুজো তো আর সুধু bengal-এ হ্্য না । মোটামুটি পরিথীর সব দেশেই হ্্য । তাই সোবার জানা উচিত ।

Durga Pujo

The most important festival lasting for five days of September-October and longest vacations of West Bengal. Held in autumn, in the past era, it was organised and financed by the landlords and the business barons.

Today the celebration of Durga Pujo has stepped out of the threshold of Zamindars and Rajbaris

and now seeped in to the form of ‘Sarbojonin (সারবোজোনিন)Durgotsav’ or ‘Baroari (বারোয়ারি) Pujo’, contributed and participated by people from all strata of the society.

Lasting 5 days during September-October this commemorates the triumph of Goddess Durga over the evil Mahishasura and is celebrated with utmost excitement, pomp and grandeur and piety throughout the state.

This also depicts her annual visit to her parents place on earth along with her four children from her heavenly abode on Mount Kailas. Preparations start long before the festival.

This is the season for gifts, new clothes are purchased, shops overflow with the latest goods. People take to the streets to visit the thousands of puja pandals which spring virtually at every street corner.

The pandals, around 2000 in and around Kolkata only, mostly constructed on the lines of monuments and heritage buildings with innovative illuminations and Durga idols are works of exquisite art.

Commencing from Shasthi to Saptami, Ashtami and Nabami, the festivities come to an end with heavy hearts on Mahadashami, the 10th day when the images are carried in decorated carts or trucks in festive processions to be immersed in river Hooghly.

There was an engineer, manager and programmer driving down a steep mountain road.

The brakes failed and the car careened down the road out of control.

Half way down the driver managed to stop the car by running it against the embankment narrowing avoiding going over a cliff. They all got out, shaken by their narrow escape from death, but otherwise unharmed.

The manager said “To fix this problem we need to organize a committee, have meetings, and through a process of continuous improvement, develop a solution.”

Computer!!! Masculine or Feminine

A SPANISH Teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

'House' for instance, is feminine: 'la casa.'
'Pencil,' however, is masculine: 'el lapiz.'

A student asked, 'What gender is 'computer'?'

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female,
and asked them to decide for themselves whether computer' should be a masculine or a
feminine noun. Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

Well many a times I needed some help with word meaning and it became quite hectic to search each word on google (which I mostly did.). But then I came across this website. Loads up fast, great interface, an interactive one. Has word games. I would recomend this site to all those who want to work on there english (well of course, beside reading stuffs).
