Help Google Bot crawl your blog faster

no comments

I was trying to find some gadgets for my blog recently, but nothing hit me hard. Then I remembered some sites having a gadget "Google bot crawled the site on". Now I went ahead and googled for the gadget. But then, it struck me when I read in some websites that google bots crawl the whole of web. So in other words it will take weeks for a bot to return to the blog for the second time. OMG! Just then my lady luck understanding my frustration gave a quick reply...

Everyone loves to get their web pages indexed by Google as soon as they write them. If you can guide the GoogleBot to crawl your site easily it will index your pages much faster than your expectations.

BOTTOMLINE :Help Google Bot to crawl your website effectively...

5 SIMPLE STEPS AND i WAS DONE.. Phew

  • Submit a Sitemap file to Google Webmaster Tools
At the center of the page was the link "Add a site.."
Make sure you have a search engine friendly site..in short keep it simple.
  • Now add your blog link as for mine it is http://nothingsupheregetdowninthesite.blogspot.com/
  • Next you get to a page where google asks you to add a 'meta tag' or a 'HTML file' to your website.
As for me, I would suggest adding 'meta tag'. It is a lot better than creating an empty HTML link. (Now that was just an opinion, do whatever you feel best.)
  • Ok. That being said, follow the help which google gives just below the Meta tag. And as for HTML file, just create a blog with the topic name as the HTML code given by google.
  • Verify the link and there you go...you just helped google and yourself.
More help here...
Now that was just a beginning... Go ahead and try all the stuffs and make urself comfortable with google...

Durga Pujo '09

Hmm, at last the long awaited days of Durga puja has come. ঐ কথায়ে আছে না, bengaliদের বারো মাসে তেরো পারবোন । (কেনো? why?)

This year might not be that special for me but who cares... everybody is happy. Shopping has already started in bengal. Don't know about other countries but protima

Mahalaya

On this holy day of "মহালায়া" ("Mahalaya") all of Bengal wakes up to the early morning radio broadcast of ‘Mahishasur Mardini’ (Hymns and sloka-snippets by Birendrakrishna Bhadra) the splendid incarnation of the arrival of Goddess Durga, along with her own illustrious family and their respective Vahanas.

It signifies the end of "Pitripakshya" and the beginning of the Holy " Debipakshya", a time for Brahmins to pay tribute to the deceased souls of their forefathers with the divine hymns chanted by the priests and the phenomenal bathing ceremony on the celestial Ghats of Mother Ganges. Over the years "Mahalaya" nestled in to most sentimental part of a Bengali heart.

Durga Pujo

The most important festival lasting for five days of September-October and longest vacations of West Bengal. Held in autumn, in the past era, it was organised and financed by the landlords and the business barons.

Today the celebration of Durga Pujo has stepped out of the threshold of Zamindars and Rajbaris

and now seeped in to the form of ‘Sarbojonin (সারবোজোনিন)Durgotsav’ or ‘Baroari (বারোয়ারি) Pujo’, contributed and participated by people from all strata of the society.

Lasting 5 days during September-October this commemorates the triumph of Goddess Durga over the evil Mahishasura and is celebrated with utmost excitement, pomp and grandeur and piety throughout the state.

This also depicts her annual visit to her parents place on earth along with her four children from her heavenly abode on Mount Kailas. Preparations start long before the festival.

This is the season for gifts, new clothes are purchased, shops overflow with the latest goods. People take to the streets to visit the thousands of puja pandals which spring virtually at every street corner.

The pandals, around 2000 in and around Kolkata only, mostly constructed on the lines of monuments and heritage buildings with innovative illuminations and Durga idols are works of exquisite art.

Commencing from Shasthi to Saptami, Ashtami and Nabami, the festivities come to an end with heavy hearts on Mahadashami, the 10th day when the images are carried in decorated carts or trucks in festive processions to be
immersed in river Hooghly.

The car accident

no comments

There was an engineer, manager and programmer driving down a steep mountain road.

The brakes failed and the car careened down the road out of control.

Half way down the driver managed to stop the car by running it against the embankment narrowing avoiding going over a cliff. They all got out, shaken by their narrow escape from death, but otherwise unharmed.

The manager said “To fix this problem we need to organize a committee, have meetings, and through a process of continuous improvement, develop a solution.”

The engineer said “No that would take too long, and besides that method never worked before. I have my trusty pen knife here and will take apart the brake system, isolate the problem and correct it.”

The programmer said “I think you`re both wrong! I think we should all push the car back up the hill and see if it happens again.”

At 5:15 am, Thursday, June 25th, 2009, Farrah Fawcett passes away
after a long battle with cancer.

Shortly after, she arrives at the Pearly Gates and meets with Saint Peter.

Saint Peter said, "Farrah, you are truly an Angel and before you pass
through these gates, I offer you one wish."

Farrah said, "Saint Peter, I want safety and security for all the children
of the world."

Six hours later, Michael Jackson is dead.

Computer!!! Masculine or Feminine

no comments

A SPANISH Teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

'House' for instance, is feminine: 'la casa.'
'Pencil,' however, is masculine: 'el lapiz.'

A student asked, 'What gender is 'computer'?'

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female,
and asked them to decide for themselves whether computer' should be a masculine or a
feminine noun. Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that 'computer' should definitely be of the feminine gender ('la computadora'), because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;

2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;

3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and

4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself
spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

(THIS GETS BETTER!)

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine ('el computador'), because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;

2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;

3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and

4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

The women won.

Just read the stuff...

A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see that his bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then he saw an Envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow that was addressed to 'Dad.'
With the worst premonition he opened the envelope with trembling hands and read the letter.

Dear Dad:
It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you.
I have been finding real passion with Stacy and she is so nice.
But I knew you would not approve of her because of all her piercing, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes and the fact that she is much older than I am. But it' s not only the passion....Dad she's pregnant.
Stacy said that we will be very happy.
She owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children.
Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone.
We'll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with the other people that live nearby for cocaine and ecstasy.
In the meantime we will pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Stacy can get better.
She deserves it.
Don't worry Dad. I'm 15 and I know how to take care of myself.
Someday I'm sure that we will be back to visit so that you can get to know your grandchildren.

Love, Your Son John

PS. Dad, none of the above is true.

I'm over at Tommy's house.

I Just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than a Report card That's in my center desk drawer.

I love you.

Call me when it's safe to come home.

Fascinating Facts...

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

(Hardly seems worth it.)

If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.

(Now that's more like it!)

The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet.

(O.M.G.!)

A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes.

(In my next life, I want to be a pig.)

A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to
death! (Creepy)

(I'm still not over the pig.)

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories a hour

(Don't try this at home, maybe at work)

The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off.

("Honey, I'm home. What the....?!")

The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field.

(30 minutes..lucky pig! Can you imagine?)

The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.

(What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond? )

Some lions mate over 50 times a day.

(I still want to be a pig in my next life...quality over quantity)

Butterflies taste with their feet.

(Something I always wanted to know.)

The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.

(Hmmmmmm......)

Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.

(If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?)

Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump.

(okay, so that would be a good thing)

A cat's urine glows under a black light.

(I wonder who was paid to figure that out?)

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.

( I know some people like that.)

Starfish have no brains.

(I know some people like that too.)

Polar bears are left-handed.

(If they switch, they'll live a lot longer?)

Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.

(What about that pig??)

Actually I am not that big a fan(not the ceiling one) of KISHORE KUMAR, but some of his songs really make me like him. Anyway, that video led me to some beautiful songs which I liked .

Magnetic Fields As You’ve Never Seen Them Before [pics]

A stunning new film shot at the NASA laboratory at UC Berkeley reveals the secret lives of magnetic fields as they morph and twist in space - but are we observing a scientific experiment, the universe in flux or a documentary of a fictional world?

They surround us, yet they can’t be seen. They shift vast currents through space, yet we rarely feel their presence. Interplanetary magnetic currents are undoubtedly one of the most mysterious aspects of the universe, but a new film by British filmmakers Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhadt unlocks the beauty of these magnificent forces for all to see.

The pair took recordings of magnetic currents from all over the universe and used them to create animated visualisations of geophysical phenomenon. The very same forces that whip up giant electrical storms at the fringes of the earth’s atmosphere, create beautiful electromagnetic light displays over the North Pole and direct cosmic rays on their spiralling courses through the universe, here are visualised in miniature - a breathtaking display of the meeting point between science and art....... read on
