1905~Annus mirabilis of Albert Einstein
Does this year ring any bell for science lovers, especially Einstein lovers....
March 17 – Albert Einstein publishes his paper On a heuristic viewpoint concerning the production and transformation of light, in which he explains the photoelectric effect using the notion of light quanta.
April – Albert Einstein works on the special theory of relativity as well as the theory of Brownian motion.
May 11 – Albert Einstein submits his doctoral dissertation On the Motion of Small Particles..., in which he explains Brownian motion. In the course of the year, Einstein publishes 4 papers, formulates the theory of special relativity and explains the photoelectric effect by quantization.
For Albert Einstein, 1905 was a remarkable year. It was also a miraculous
year for the history and future of science. In six short months, from March
through September of that year, Einstein published five papers that would
transform our understanding of nature. This unparalleled period is the
subject of John Rigden's book, which deftly explains what distinguishes 1905
from all other years in the annals of science, and elevates Einstein above
all other scientists of the twentieth century.
